Microwave Photonics GmbH (MWP) is a partner in the SEQUIN project, where the company is responsible for developing a Dual-Polarization I/Q Coherent Receiver. Compared to the single-channel architecture explored in the preceding DE-QOR project, this component marks a substantial advancement: by simultaneously processing both polarization states of an optical signal across its in-phase (I) and quadrature (Q) components, the receiver delivers significantly improved sensitivity, resilience to noise, and quantum key rate performance. Hardware of this kind is critical for bridging the gap between theoretical CV-QKD security models and their practical deployment in real-world networks. As such, Microwave Photonics’ contribution is central to SEQUIN’s overarching goal of realising side-channel-resistant quantum communication.
